Marieke Mertz Art

Marieke Mertz is known for uplifting, joyful art that celebrates the simple joys. Her recent work focuses on contemporary hummingbird paintings.

Born and raised among Dutch windmills, she has been living in Portland, Oregon for many years now. While she loves her flat birth country, she has come to greatly appreciate living in such a beautiful place as the Pacific Northwest (so much so that she’s studying to become a naturalist to give back to her community as a volunteer!)  She gets beyond excited about seeing wildlife and clearly remembers seeing her first hummingbird after moving to the United States.
 
Creating art that brings joy to others’ lives or enables people to share more joyful moments together is what really makes her heart happy!
