Collection: Michael Johnson

A native of Portland, Ore, he is self taught in silk painting and utilizing his skills/ talent to produce hand-painted 100%. Silk scarves with water based dyes.
Using the Serti Technique and/or free- hand painting, he creates vividand complementary color combinations from completely white scarves. Each scarf is a unique piece of art and requires several steps of preparation: prepping the silk, transferring designs to the scarf, applying the resistlines, pressing those lines, formulating dye colors, applying the color, and then setting the dyeschemically or with steam. One scarf can take up to 1 week for completion (from beginning to end) as dry times are crucial for curing dyes and resist lines.
